ABOUT

JustinZ is a Chinese-American singer, songwriter, producer, and entrepreneur who has made waves in the music industry through his genre-blending artistry, production work, and innovative ventures. His hit single “Dreams” earned him six awards, including the 2021 Gold Remi Award for Best New Artist. 

Beyond his solo career, JustinZ is the founder of MTRNM Media, the umbrella company for MTRNM Music (his independent record label) and Acidvision Films (his film company). Through these ventures, he has collaborated with and produced for artists such as Sam Tsui, AJ Rafael, and his label signees, while continuing to develop his own music.

JustinZ is also deeply involved in the business and marketing side of the music industry. Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Music in Computer Music at the Peabody Institute of The Johns Hopkins University, with a minor in Business & Marketing, he combines his artistic expertise with strategic insight. His industry experience includes working as a Digital Marketing & Content Intern at Artist Partner Group (APG), where he has led high-impact marketing campaigns for major music releases. He has also presented on key industry topics such as album rollouts and independent artist strategies, further proving his versatility as both a creative and a strategist.

Early Career & Discography

Before officially launching his artist career, JustinZ released a series of pre-debut singles that showcased his early songwriting and production style. His self-written and produced tracks, including “Take You Home” and “Light In The Sky” (2019), as well as his self-titled EP, “JustinZ,” introduced his creative vision. During this period, he also released “It’s Good To See You” (2020), “Midnight feat. Sri" (2021), and his pre-debut mixtape project, “Self-Titled” (2020), along with collaborations with producer ZJX on “1,000 Nights” and “Fantasy.” While these early releases helped shape his artistic identity, they have since been removed from streaming services as he refined his sound and direction.

Even amid the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, JustinZ used his artistry to support charitable causes. His first widely recognized release, “tell me we’re ok,” was a self-written and produced charity single featuring his label signees, spreading hope and resilience during uncertain times. His second charity single, “Blossom,” benefited the Super Joey Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to supporting children battling cancer.

 

On May 20, 2022, he released “Dreams,” his first official single, accompanied by a Gold Remi Award-winning music video starring Bailey “Bailrok” Muñoz (So You Think You Can Dance winner) and Primetime Emmy-nominated actress Rain Valdez. The track’s success solidified his presence in the industry, setting the stage for his evolving artistry. Building on that momentum, he followed up with “Runaway” on April 28, 2023, further defining his sound and lyrical storytelling. Both singles have paved the way for his highly anticipated debut album, set for release in 2025.

Recent Work & Industry Contributions

Beyond his own artistry, JustinZ has made a significant impact in digital marketing, music production, and multimedia storytelling. As a Digital Marketing & Content Intern at Artist Partner Group (APG), he has helped develop strategies that generate 5M+ views weekly across TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube Shorts. His expertise in platform-specific campaigns has driven major engagement boosts, including a TikTok campaign with 270K views and a +352% increase in Snapchat growth, while his contributions in marketing meetings have enhanced artist branding and visibility.

 

JustinZ is also involved in NASA’s Message in a Bottle campaign as a Music and Media Project Leader, writing and producing the official theme song and composing the documentary score for a space-bound time capsule. Additionally, as a music producer and audio engineer at Flying Media, he collaborates with top producers and clients to transform demos into polished, professional-grade productions.

 

His influence extends to A.I.-assisted music creation as the Founder and Co-Developer of Melodyfi, an A.I.-driven music production tool co-created with Cal State Pomona professors (Patent: US 63/261,348). His research on Melodyfi was published by AIRCC Publishing Corporation, further solidifying his impact at the intersection of music and technology.

 

Previously, he co-founded iStage Entertainment, producing nationally recognized events in partnership with McDonald’s, SkyLinkTV, East West Players, and Warner Bros. This included Crazy Talented Asians 2021, a Forbes-featured event honoring Fresh Off the Boat (ABC), and the Joy to the World Christmas Concert 2020, a nationally televised special featuring Sam Tsui, AJ Rafael, and Olivia Thai.

With experience spanning artist development, digital strategy, and AI-driven music production, JustinZ continues to push creative boundaries, bridging the gap between music, technology, and storytelling while shaping the future of the industry.
