ABOUT

JustinZ is a Chinese-American singer, songwriter, and producer whose music blends modern pop, R&B, and nostalgic storytelling into an emotionally rich sound. His artistry gained early recognition when his debut single “Dreams” earned six international awards, including the Gold Remi Award for Best New Artist at WorldFest-Houston.

 

His standout singles “Why Can’t You Stay” and “moonlight” have become his most streamed songs, building a loyal listener base on TikTok where he promotes his music through performance-driven storytelling and audience engagement.

 

Alongside his solo artistry, JustinZ runs MTRNM Music (pronounced “metronome”), his independent record label built to release his own work and champion close collaborators. As part of MTRNM Media, his broader creative platform that supports both music and film projects, he has worked with artists including Sam Tsui, AJ Rafael, and asumuh — developing a growing network of emerging talent while remaining fully independent.

Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Music in Computer Music at the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University, with a minor in Business & Marketing, JustinZ pairs his technical skill with a strong entrepreneurial mindset. His industry experience includes working in digital marketing at Artist Partner Group (APG), supporting major releases and exploring creative strategy for emerging artists.

EARLY CREATIVE DEVELOPMENT & BREAKTHROUGH

Before officially debuting, JustinZ explored a range of self-produced singles and collaborative releases that helped him shape his artistic identity during his formative years. Those releases have since been retired from streaming as he refined his sound and direction.

Even amid the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, he used his music to support charitable causes. His first widely recognized release, “tell me we’re ok,” was a self-written charity single created with artists from his creative circle, spreading hope during uncertain times. He later released “Blossom” to benefit the Super Joey Foundation, a nonprofit supporting children battling cancer.

On May 20, 2022, JustinZ released “Dreams,” marking his official debut. The accompanying music video — starring Bailey “Bailrok” Muñoz (So You Think You Can Dance winner) and Primetime Emmy-nominated actress Rain Valdez — earned the Gold Remi Award for Best New Artist at WorldFest-Houston and introduced his cinematic pop-R&B sound to a wider audience.

Building on that momentum, he followed up with “Runaway” (2023) and went on to expand his reach with “Why Can’t You Stay” and “moonlight” (2025). Both singles were embraced on TikTok and quickly became his most streamed tracks, pulling in tens of thousands of plays within just a few months — showcasing his ability to convert digital attention into real listener engagement. Together, these releases continue to pave the way for his highly anticipated debut album, arriving in 2026.

RECENT WORKS & INDUSTRY CONTRIBUTIONS

Alongside his artistic development, JustinZ has built hands-on experience in digital strategy and music innovation. As a Digital Marketing & Content Intern at Artist Partner Group (APG), he contributes to short-form campaigns that generate millions of weekly views across TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube Shorts. His platform-specific work includes a 270K-view TikTok activation and sustained audience growth for emerging artists — deepening his understanding of how fanbases form in today’s music landscape.

He previously served as Music & Media Project Lead for NASA’s Message in a Bottle initiative, writing the official theme song and composing the score for a space-bound documentary — merging storytelling with global outreach.

At Flying Media, he worked as a producer and engineer, helping emerging artists turn demos into release-ready tracks and strengthening his craft in vocal production, mixing, and sonic identity.

JustinZ also co-developed MelodyFi — an AI-assisted production tool (Patent: US 63/261,348) — with research published by AIRCC Publishing Corporation, reflecting his passion for innovation at the intersection of music and technology.

Earlier in his career, he co-founded iStage Entertainment, producing nationally recognized events in collaboration with McDonald’s, Warner Bros., SkyLinkTV, and East West Players, including the Forbes-featured Crazy Talented Asians 2021 showcase.
